What is Mixtape?

Sock Drawer Heroes Mixtape is body tape for chest binding and tucking, as an alternative (or in addition) to using fabric chest binders and compression underwear (gaffs).

Our SDH Mixtape comes in three different widths: 3”, 4” and 5”, and 5 metre length.

SDH Mixtape is made from a blend of 95% cotton and 5% spandex. The adhesive is a medical-grade acrylic adhesive that is latex-free.

How long can I wear Mixtape for?

The exact length of time depends on the individual, but when applied correctly, it can be worn for multiple days as it is both resistant to water and sweat. If you plan to keep your Mixtape on after showering, bathing or swimming, make sure to gently pat it dry with a towel, rather than rubbing it as this will make the edging curl off.

How to use Mixtape for tucking

How to use Mixtape for tucking

Please note, we use the terms 'penis', 'scrotum' and 'testicles' to refer to particular body parts when specifically describing the tucking method.

Which Mixtape width to choose

The most popular size of Mixtape for tucking (flattening the penis and testicles) is the 3”, but some people choose to use the 4” or 5” and cut it into a conical shape with the wider end starting at the pubic area rather than using multiple smaller strips.

Start with clean skin

Before applying Mixtape, make sure your skin is clean and free from lotions, oils, deodorant or perfume. Use non-moisturizing soap to clean the area and rinse well. Make sure your skin is dry before applying Mixtape.

Hair removal

Remove hair from the area by trimming, shaving, or waxing. This will make it easier and more comfortable when you remove the tape later.

Cutting to size

Roughly measure against your body a strip from the top of your penis to between your legs.

Applying the Mixtape

  • Wrap your penis (flaccid) using soft materials like tissue or a thin piece of fabric.
  • Apply 2-3cm of the end of the Mixtape strip the top of your penis.
  • Then, use 2 or 3 fingers to tuck each testicle up into each corresponding inguinal canal. This should not be painful. If you feel pain, stop and try again later. Some people choose not to tuck the testicles up into the inguinal canal at all.
  • Then position your penis down and back towards your buttocks, and gently pull the tape back between your legs towards your buttocks, and stick it down.
  • Apply extra strips of tape if necessary to ensure everything stays in place.

Note: You'll need to undo and redo the tape for bathroom breaks.

Tucking may be a bit uncomfortable, but it shouldn't be painful. If you feel any pain or discomfort, stop tucking and give yourself a break. If pain persists, seek medical advice.

Try tucking in comfort at home, where you can easily untuck if needed, until you get used to it.

Removing Mixtape
  • Do not remove Mixtape when it is dry. This will be painful and likely to irritate or damage your skin.
  • Apply an oil to the tape to break down the adhesive. Coconut oil is a great option as it will also help to remove mucky tape marks, moisturise your skin and it smells amazing. Alternatively, you can use olive oil or vegetable oil.
  • Let the oil soak in for 5 minutes before removing the tape.
  • Pull slowly and gently in the direction of hair growth, if any, whilst holding the skin taut. Apply more oil as needed.
Skincare after using Mixtape

After using Mixtape for chest binding or tucking, it's important to take care of your skin. Here are some skincare tips to follow:

  • Cleanse the skin - cleanse the taped area with a mild, fragrance-free soap or body wash and lukewarm water (hot water can be harsh on the skin and may exacerbate any irritation). After cleansing, apply a gentle, hypoallergenic moisturiser to help soothe the skin and maintain its hydration.
  • Avoid harsh products - using products with alcohol, fragrances, or harsh chemicals on the taped area as these can irritate the skin.
  • Monitor your skin for any signs of redness, itching, or irritation. If you notice any adverse reactions, stop using the tape and seek medical advice.
  • Take breaks - give your skin breaks from binding or tucking to allow it to breathe and recover.
  • Stay hydrated - drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.

Remember, everyone is different - it's important to listen to your body and adapt these tips to suit your own needs.
